The Ag Academy is new to Dadeville this year. It is available to juniors and seniors. We have a few attendees this year. These attendees are Payton Farmer, Landon Keathley, and Luke McGee. In this program, the kids learn about beef production, economics, sales and marketing, and more skills that are needed for a beef agribusiness.
This program is located on a big beef farm just outside of Lamar, MO. In this program, the kids are taught on a two hour schedule. They work on the farm 3-4 days a week, and the rest of the time they are in the classroom learning about agribuisness. The farm is 160 acres, and a 400 head feedlot is also included. When on the farm, the students often check cows, build fences, feed, weld, doctor the cows, and tag them. Luke, Landon, and Payton are really enjoying this program and everything they are learning from it.
