FAFSA

Attention seniors and parents, there have been some changes to FAFSA!

  • Parents will have to report the adjusted net worth of their farm/small business. In the past, these were exempt from being reported, but they have to be reported this year.

  • The FAFSA website will be open on Dec 1st

  • Next year it will go back to October 1 opening

  • You MUST obtain an FAFSA ID BEFORE starting the FAFSA

  • It is much recommended that you get your FSFA ID now

  • Now it will take 3-5 days(or longer) to get your FSA ID after working  on your FAFSA

  • Future Act Direct Data Exchange (FADDX) allows the Dept. of Education to request the IRS to transfer your tax information so you do not manually enter the tax info on the FASFA

  • MUST click the permission box in the FASFA  to allow the Dept. of Education to request tax info from the IRS Parent AND stepparent's financial information

  • Make sure the student has an email setup that is NOT his/her school

  • Student and parents CAN NOT use the same email address or phone number

For more information, you can visit https://studentaid.gov

They will ask for your full name, social security number, and date of birth.
