FCCLA STAR Competition

Dadeville FCCLA members attended the annual Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference, March 11-13, at Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach.  There were more than 1,600 students and their teachers in attendance. There are more than 320 FCCLA chapters across the state.

During this conference more than 640 students participated in 30 competitive STAR Events. STAR Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. Eight Dadeville FCCLA members making up three teams competed in these STAR Events. Kenzie King, Rylee Mullins, and Clara Lugeanbeal competed in Life Events Planning, which is an event that recognizes participants who apply skills to manage the financial costs of an upcoming event. Alexis Goodman, Samantha Melton, and Saedee Sherwood competed in Entrepreneurship, which is an event that recognizes participants who develop a plan for a small business using sound business practices. Lexi Lakey and Macey Sappington competed in Sports Nutrition which is an event that  recognizes participants who plan and develop an individualized nutritional plan to meet the needs of a competitive student athlete in a specific sport. All three teams received a ‘Gold’ ranking! Lexi and Macey were the State Winners of their category! They will move on to compete at the National STAR Event Competitions during National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.
